This year's rendezvous promises to be an exceptional gathering for equestrians globally, uniting riders, enthusiasts, and spectators from all around the world to share and celebrate equestrian excellence and the spirit of international equestrian camaraderie.

Equestrian Events’ Olympic History

Before their official debut in 1912, in the Stockholm Olympic Games, Equestrian Sports made their first appearance at Paris 1900. If you're considering attending Paris 2024, you'll find yourself immersed in a truly exceptional and historical setting, standing at the very location where Equestrian Games first featured, 124 years ago!

Fast forward to the Helsinki Games in 1952, where a historic moment unfolded as women joined the dressage event, paving the way for a fully mixed competition. By 1964, women had access to all equestrian events, establishing Equestrian Sports as the only discipline at the Olympic Games to boast complete gender inclusivity.

Paris 2024 Equestrian Venue

The prestigious Château de Versailles, globally acknowledged as an iconic symbol of culture and history, has been selected to host Olympic and Paralympic horse sports at the 2024 Paris Games. Steeped in the legacy of Louis XIV, this renowned palace will serve as a spectacular setting for all equestrian events, including Dressage, Eventing, Jumping, Para-Dressage, and the Modern Pentathlon (Swimming, Equestrian, Laser-Run and Fencing).

A temporary outdoor arena with 20,000-seat area will be set up on the Etoile Royale esplanade, situated to the west of the Grand Canal within the Palace's gardens. This arena will host the dressage and jumping tests for eventing, as well as the jumping and dressage classes for both Olympic and Paralympic competitions, while individual and team eventing cross-country tests will be held along the picturesque Grand Canal. The Château de Versailles will also be the stage for the five events of modern pentathlon.

How to Reach the Venue

If you’re planning on attending the Equestrian events, taking place 35km from the Olympic and Paralympic Village, you might be wondering about transportation options.

To reach the Château de Versailles, you can use the following stations:

Versailles Chantiers (accessible via RER line C, train line N from Gare Montparnasse in central Paris, and train line U from La Défense station)
Versailles Château (accessible via RER line C)
Versailles Rive Droite (accessible via train line L from Gare Saint‑Lazare in central Paris)

For the convenience of spectators, direct buses will operate between these stations and the competition venue.

Additionally, on Sunday July 28^th (day of the individual cross-country test), you will be able to access the site on foot through the scenic Park of Versailles. This option will ensure a hassle-free journey while presenting a wonderful chance to explore the rich historical surroundings of the Château de Versailles.

Where Can I get Tickets?

Various package options are available for attending the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, all of which are exclusively available through the Paris 2024 official ticketing platform. For the first time in the history of Olympic Games, tickets are being sold solely online, with real-time sales and no draws!

Olympic Qualified Nations

As the qualification period for the Olympic Games equestrian competitions has now concluded, you might be wondering which countries qualified to take part in the Games.

National teams have been qualifying for the Games for close to 18 months, with some nations securing their place as early as the 2022 FEI World Championships. For those nations that did not qualify for the Team competitions, Individual places were up for grabs based on their athletes’ performances until the end of the qualification period on December 31, 2023.

As it stands, 20 Team quota places and 15 Individual slots have been obtained for Jumping. 14 Teams and 15 Individual athlete/horse combinations have qualified for a Dressage entry. 16 Teams slots and 17 Individual quota places have been allocated for Eventing. For Para Dressage, 9 nations have obtained Team quota places so far, with an additional 6 Team slots and 18 Individual qualification places still to be allocated.

Next key deadlines include team confirmations by February 5^th and athlete nominations by March 28^th. Athlete and horse combinations must meet the Olympic Minimum Entry Requirements by June 24th, with National Olympic Committees submitting their final entries by July 8th.
