Job Description


Reporting to:  Product Innovation Manager

Scope of Role:

Horseware Ireland, one of the equestrian industry’s best-known consumer brands are seeking a Product Engineer to join our team in our HQ in Dundalk. This is an exciting time to join this internationally renowned and award-winning business. This position will deliver the end to end product development process in the equine category within the Research & Development department.


Responsibilities
:

  • Review product designs, test prototypes and co-develop critical characteristics / tolerances for initial testing, validations and subsequent routine manufacturing controls.
  • Participate in design evaluations where appropriate.
  • Support product development including prototype and pre-production sampling.
  • Researching & identifying trends & predictions for product improvements, style developments, colours, fabrics & features.
  • Actively monitoring competitor and market intelligence.
  • Produce seasonal designs & development.
  • Develop and maintain the technical drawings, patterns & specification databases.
  • Working as part of a global team to develop product at cost that aesthetics and product meet customer requirements & supersede market trends.
  • Collaborate with R&D design team on all parts of the design & development process in conjunction with seasonal timelines.
  • Plan and conduct ongoing competitive product analysis to provide key insights into the competitive landscape.

 

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Third level degree in Engineering or Product Design.
  • 3 years professional experience in the design/ manufacturing/ production environment in a transferable role such as Development/ Design / Technical.
  • Excellent project management skills with a proven record of such.
  • The ability to work individually, as well as part of a large, cross functional team.
  • Willingness to travel.
  • Proficient in CAD programming such as Solid Works, Geber or Optitex.
  • Proficient with the Adobe design packages.
  • Knowledge of fabrics & materials is an advantage.
  • A love of horses and equine knowledge.
