HORSEWARE GETS THE HAT-TRICK AT BETA 2009!

Not one, not two but three awards for Horseware at BETA International 2009! Despite all the doom and gloom the moment Horseware arrived at BETA their usual Irish charm and hard work to prepare their new collections and innovative product developments for 2009 all paid off. For three days the recession was left at the door as nothing but positive feedback and orders flowed in for the ever expanding RAMBO® Newmarket Range which includes horse, dog and human clothing, the newly revamped RHINO®  range and Lucinda Green clothing to name but a few.

Then the awards started pouring in. The first was for Horseware’s Trade Website at the industry awards presented at the BETA Gala dinner on Sunday night. The judges quoted “by far the best presented and easy to use with an extensive quantity of product information and imagery.” Horseware multimedia designer, Paul Nesbitt, is constantly updating this site to make sure it is as relevant as possible and that our customers and the media have full access to our archive of photography to use for their own websites, adverts and catalogues.

The second and third awards came from the prestigious Innovation Awards which everybody strives to win. These awards give enormous credibility to a product as they are assessed by a set of judges at the top of their field from an array of specialist areas. The two products to win were the RAMBO® Newmarket Blouson Jacket in the Rider Clothing category and the RAMBO® Helix Rug was runner up in the Horse care Products & Equipment category. Both of these products benefit from the same technology but in opposite forms.
The RAMBO® Newmarket Blouson Jacket is designed as a classic cotton blouson summer jacket with ribbed collar and cuffs that relies on its soft natural feel to retain its intended look. However this jacket is also highly waterproof and breathable using a brand new waterproofing technology called the Horseware® Nanotech System allowing the jacket to retain its natural hand feel. The Horseware® Nanotech System involves cross linking (chemical bonding) of hydrophobic (water repelling) molecules to the fibres of the yarns. This creates a barrier to prevent water droplets from penetrating the fabric while allowing water vapour and perspiration to freely pass through. This is a breakthrough in waterproofing technology as the Horseware® Nanotech System does not use a solid film to coat the fabric, the natural hand feel is preserved. Also and most importantly the breathability of the jacket,  as tested through evaporative testing methods, the Horseware® Nanotech System Micro Cell shows a higher transport than other coating technologies and retains 85% efficiency after 10 washes.

The RAMBO® Helix Rug uses the same Nanotech System as the RAMBO® Newmarket Blouson Jacket but in reverse. In this case hydrophilic (water loving) molecules are chemically bonded to an advanced fabric using spun yarns and heavy brushing on the inside of the rug lifts moisture away from the horse and quickly transfers it along the spun fibres to a wide area, where it will then dry much quicker than any other fabric. Soil release chemicals are also dyed into the rug so when washed the sheet will be cleaned as efficiently as possible. The RAMBO® Helix takes coolers to the next generation.

In a morning of hot contest, after two rounds it come down to a jump off for gold and silver and a five-way jump-off for the bronze medal.
The USA’s Taylor Land rode a clear round in a time of 30.60 to clinch the gold ahead of New Zealand’s Rachel McGregor who knocked one rail on her way to a time of 33.15.

“I’m a bit gutted to have not had a clean last round so that I was able to challenge for the gold medal but to come away from this competition with two bronze medals is very pleasing,” said Sampson.
