Badminton Horse Trials 2007 Congratulations to Austin and Hobby Du Mee
Badminton Horse Trials 2007 was certainly eventful! Just 38 Horses completed the gruelling 4* Event with many top riders withdrawing their horses because the ground was too hard.
One of the 38 riders who did complete the event was our very own Austin O’Connor and the gorgeous 16.1hh Chestnut gelding Hobby du Mee.
Austin made his return to Badminton HT after an 8-year gap – completing his last badminton in 1999 on Simply Rhett where he came 4th.
Austin and Hobby came in 21st a fantastic feat as Badminton 2007 was Hobby’s first 4* Event!

Austin was delighted with Hobby’s performance being his first 4 star and the conditions which he competed in – proving we are a tough bunch over here!
It was also a great event for Irish Sport horses as the Badminton 2007 Winner Lucinda Fredrick’s rode her ‘Headley Britannia’ by Jumbo a Thoroughbred x Irish Draught. Andrew Nicholson also rode ‘Henry Tankerville’ by Jumbo – placed 8th – they obviously all had the luck of the Irish!
